About Humanities

The department of Humanities with an interdisciplinary academic thrust that fosters holistic, humanistic values and enquiry is unique in the sense that it not only has a distinct identity of its own as an independent department but also provides academic inputs and services to other departments of the University. The department works on the principle of integrating knowledge and humanity. Its objective is to inculcate the very simple yet very important characteristics of sensibility and sensitivity among its students and help them grow into true human beings in increasingly mechanized society. The department has been offering two year degree programme of M.A. in English and certificate courses in foreign languages since 2008. While as service department it has been offering various courses in English, Communication Skills, Management and Economics to the undergraduate engineering and postgraduate management students since the time DCRUST was a state engineering college.

The department of Humanities is committed to teach and train students in all aspects of English language and Literature. The department has one state of the art ‘Language Lab’ with the latest requisite software and course modules. The department also has a ‘Media and Communication Lab’.

MA-English

Envisioned as a comprehensive course, M.A. English started by the department in 2008 equips and enables students to face professional challenges with vision and courage.  It delivers application-oriented and UGC NET-specific curricula through interactive pedagogy with focus on training in seminar, oral and non-verbal skills. A perfect blend of conventional classroom teaching with chalk and talk method and state-of-the-art technological aids such as Language Lab Software targets holistic development of personal, professional and social persona of the student.  The USP of MA English offered by the department is that one can acquire an additional one year Diploma in Communication Skills and Personality Development along with two year degree programme by opting two additional papers in the first year of M.A. English.
